The BIG BANG Festival’s grand singing extravaganza
One voice is beautiful. Hundreds of voices singing in unison: pure magic.
At the climax of this year’s BIG BANG Antwerp, the stage of the Rode Zaal bursts open for a grand singing extravaganza in which everyone takes part. From the child in the front row to, perhaps, you as an adult who haven’t dared to sing out loud for years.
Together! is a production by Zuidgeluid, featuring former Ketnet presenter Héritier Tipo as the special guest. Choir conductor Tom Johnson, known from ‘Iedereen Zingt’, will be working with the distinctive repertoire of poet Maud Vanhauwaert and music educator Mirjam de Wit.
Here, singing isn’t merely a symbol of connection; singing is connection. In the weeks leading up to the performance, Tom and his team visit the classrooms. The children get to know the songs and grow. And there’s plenty of practising outside the classroom too, this time with children who don’t naturally find their way to active musical engagement: enter the Djamaloka Children’s Choir.
On the big day, it’s not just these children who will shine. Led by Héritier Tipo, who has previously collaborated with the Belgian National Orchestra, they will fill the auditorium with their energy. An infectious energy, you can be sure of that.
